Section 1745 further states that the payments by VA to State homes under such contracts or agreements shall be based on a formula, developed by the Secretary in consultation with the State home, to adequately reimburse the State home for the care. Convalescent homes provide medical services that can’t be provided in a patient’s home.
In each, you’d live there full time and have access to nursing and medical care, as well as help with daily tasks 24 hours a day. Many patients in convalescent homes are recovering from strokes, accidents, or post-operation. Time and practice is needed to fully heal or adapt to physical changes, but a hospital room and hospital resources are not required for that healing process.
